Last time: Oklahoma City THUNDERSTRUCK the Heat 105-94

That was an insane Game 1. Now we’re onto a huge game.  Win Game 2 and you control the series and really only need to take one of the three in Miami, and take one at home. The pressure will shift back onto the Miami heat.  However, currently the eyes are all on Oklahoma city.

The Thunder played a great final 24 minutes. It’ll be really nice if the Thunder can come out and compete for 48 minutes. Might be easier on my heart. That said, credit Miami and their game plan early on. Coach Scott Brooks finally adjusted, and you saw the difference, Oklahoma City pulling away and eventually winning by 11.

I fully expect Chris Bosh to be put back into the starting line up. I also expect Dwayne Wade to play a lot better. Wade was nothing impressive. We could also see a lot more Thabo Sefolosha on Lebron James. Sefolosha held James to just 2-of-6 shooting in the fourth quarter, and the Heat struggled in the fourth as Oklahoma City pulled away. I’m curious to who will guard Wade. Will it be Harden, Westbrook or KD? We’ll find out.

Bring it Oklahoma City.

Keys to the game

Good First Half
The Thunder struggled in the first half. They took good shots, some were contested, some were not. However, they didn’t fall and they played sloppy defense. Not to mention the eight first half turnovers. They need to play the first half just like they’ve been playing the second half. Why wait until the game is already in question. Put it away early.

Assists
6-0. OKC is 6-0 when they have more than 20 assists here in the playoffs. They’ve only done it in 6 of their 13 wins (16 overall games).  Basically means ball movement and making shots. A complicated combination, even though it may not seem like it. Westbrook played awesome. I think the Thunder could have more assists, due to Harden not playing as much.

James Harden
Harden disappeared in Game 1. I think Miami really keyed off him and took him out of his game. He did have a big three, and that was really about it. We need Harden to get back to the sixth man of the year self. That starts by penetrating and getting the ball movement going. If Oklahoma City can do that, with getting him involved, it looks like a W.

About The Author

I founded this site in May of 2011. It started out as a way to vent a lot of my thoughts on the Thunder in the 2011 Playoffs. However, people loved what I had to say and I watched my personal twitter grow from people wanting more Thunder knowledge. I was the Sports Editor at Eastern Oklahoma State College, also wrote for the OU Daily. I’ve had my work posted on USA today, Yahoo! Sports and ESPN.com. I give a fan’s perspective while being knowledgeable, but I’m real. It’s not all candy and rainbows, I’ll call a player out if they’re not living up to the team’s expectations. So, bring your big boy pants and let’s Thunder Up!
