We finally have some Thunder basketball! The early Thunder rookies and first year guys are headed to Orlando to practice on their game. Good news: OKC will have some “veterans” there working out, but not playing. They are Eric Maynor and Daequan Cook.

Oklahoma City will be playing some really inexperienced guys in Latavious Williams, Perry Jones III and Cole Aldrich. Not to mention, the random people that they’ve allowed to play on their squad. It’s going to be really interested to see how this team does.

Oklahoma City has been inconsistent in Summer leagues. 2009, OKC was 0-5. Then they rebounded in 2010 with a 4-1 record. There was no summer leagues this past year due to the lockout.

Boston brings some interesting characters into the league as well. They bring Fab Melo and Jared Sullinger, the number 21 and 22 picks in this year’s NBA draft, respectively.

What to watch for

Cole Aldrich
Hey, I am soo intrigued to see this guy. I can’t wait to see him finally get some minutes. He was the 12th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. He’s slowly being labeled a bust without even really been given a chance. I am interested to see what he does against some of these rookie centers. Should he dominate, it’ll be a nice sign going into training camp.

Perry Jones III
How is his knee? He says it’s fine. We’re going to see. A lot of people say he has crappy work ethic and he disagrees. We’re going to see that early on. Is he going to be lazy on the court? Does he deserve to be on this team? We’re going to see that this week.

Reggie Jackson
You can’t but feel sorry for this guy. He was thrown into the deep end and ended up needing a Derek Fisher sized life vest to save him. Oklahoma City wasn’t going to the NBA Finals with him. However, he’s a rookie. A late round rookie too. He was supposed to learn behind Eric Maynor and Russell Westbrook. This is a really good chance for him to gain some confidence. I’m really excited to see him finally get a chance to run the offense.

About The Author

I founded this site in May of 2011. It started out as a way to vent a lot of my thoughts on the Thunder in the 2011 Playoffs. However, people loved what I had to say and I watched my personal twitter grow from people wanting more Thunder knowledge. I was the Sports Editor at Eastern Oklahoma State College, also wrote for the OU Daily. I’ve had my work posted on USA today, Yahoo! Sports and ESPN.com. I give a fan’s perspective while being knowledgeable, but I’m real. It’s not all candy and rainbows, I’ll call a player out if they’re not living up to the team’s expectations. So, bring your big boy pants and let’s Thunder Up!
